Websites that you can maintain without technical skills

Websites that you can maintain

Small organisations rarely have website development skills:
Many small organisations such as charities, clubs and societies, as well as small businesses, do not have the skills to either build or implement a website. Having a bespoke site built can be quite costly, especially for something decent. An alternative approach is to use a 'Content Management System' (CMS) that, once installed, does not require technical skills to maintain the site. Providing you can use a browser and have basic computer skills such as word processing you have most of the skills required.>
Joomla! CMS
Paul has implemented sites using the popular Joomla! CMS. Joomla! has many features built-in such as a members area (for which you need to be registered). However, there are a number of 'extensions' that add more features and functions. One example of a site he has built is for Norfolk Smallholder Training Group: This site has a members' area which includes a forum that was based on the 'Agora' extension.
Cost
The best thing is that Joomla! is free, as are many (but not all) extensions and templates (these define the look of the site). This means that you can get a quite comprehensive website for an affordable price. Obviously you would need to pay for hosting and the implementation of Joomla, but is is a fraction of the cost of a decent bespoke site.
Paul's Portrait Photography website
Portrait Photography: 'Putting his money where his mouth is', Paul has implemented one of his own websites using Joomla. This website is dedicated to the portrait photography that Paul provides to the local community. Although based on a standard template, Paul has modified it to suit his needs. If this is of interest, feel free to call Paul Morris on 07881 784 259 to talk things over.
